First week in the beach.

Sorry for the delay. There's no wifi at the beach house, so in order to post I need to go to the closest restaurant (and drink some tint). This post was from last week.

Well, we made it to the beach! It's been pretty fabulous although I must say that I'm battling the sun and the water. I have been applying sunblock, so there's not need to try and remind me to do that! I could wear SPF 1000 and I honestly think I would still get burnt. However, I did start using my aftersun correctly aka using it in the shower like a body wash instead of a lotion and I woke up the next morning looking tan! Espe even said so!
There's no wifi t the house, so if you're wondering why sometimes we might be in an iMessage or fb convo and then I all of a sudden don't respond, it's not your fault and you didn't say anything wrong. (unless you did).
Here are a few of the pictures I've taken this week!

Massive statue on the beach.

Alex eating lunch with Puchi.

And of course this wifi is SUPER slow, so it takes a million years to load a photo, and I just don't have that kind of time. So there are the 2 photos that I was able to sit for.
Basically I go to the beach, go back to the pool, eat lunch, do some english lessons and then it's free time!

A Weekend to Surprise!

I thought I posted this at the beginning of the week but apparently I didn't. This was last weekend, July 26-27th...better late than never I guess!

Darah left for the beach house on Friday and it took them 6 hours in the car to finally get there. I thought we weren't going to make it to Oliva until next week but then I found out that it was Espe and Susa's Mom's birthday and they always surprise them. Our plan was to rent hotel rooms because the beach house is getting rented out for the month of July.
Plans got a little screwy when they lost the reservation for my single room. There was yelling. I tried to tell Espe that I could just sleep at the beach house with Darah (they have an extra bed) but she wanted me to be comfortable, so I got a single room at a completely random hotel about 10 minutes from where the rest of them were staying. Weird, but I was ok with it.

The plan: wake up at 6, Bernard would come get us at 6:30 and be at the beach by 10 to surprise Grandma.

What actually happened: wake up at 6 (after going to bed at 2, rough), wait for Bernard until 7:30!!! (he over slept his alarm), got on the road and stopped 2 times. I thought we were going to make it to the beach by 10. Next thing I know it's 1 o'clock and we have to meet up with the rest of the people at the restaurant they were at. Espe's mom (Ana) is 1 of 9 children. 6 girls and 3 brothers. Wowzers, I'm definitely ok with my 4 that I haves planned. Only 4 of her sisters made it to the beach this time. We missed beach time on Saturday but we went back to the hotel to hang out at the pool basically from 3pm to 8:30 when we were finally ready to go out to dinner.
Sunday the day went like this:
wake up
10:30-eat breakfast (pan tostado)
11-2:30-go to the beach, proceed to get sunburnt
2:30-4-Lunch
4-5-Pool
After the pool we got in the car and headed back but pretty much besides the driving back to Rivas, this will be our schedule for all of August. The beach houses are in the same complex thing, so instead of being a mile walk from one house to the next, we are only 30 seconds away.

Oh and one more thing, there's no wifi at the beach house!! So as for my blog....who knows what's going to happen. I will try to post, but I make no promises.

I didn't take too many pictures this last weekend but here are a few!
Alex looking cool in Marco's sunglasses

We all have super cool sunglasses :)

Darah and Alex

Alex likes to put sunblock on Darah. That's about all the sunblock she uses all day. NOT FAIR.

Kiddos on a tree! Hard to get all of them looking at the camera at the same time, but I did my best.

Kiddos dancing. Kinda blurry but you get the idea. They were pretty adorable.

Alex and his shark! (He's obsessed. Won't let anyone else ride it and he brought it with us all the way to the restaurant!)

So yea, that was pretty much my weekend and basically what the whole month of August is going to be like! I'll keep you updated as best I can!

Tinder Date... I'm ALIVE!

For those of you who don't know what tinder is...you're probably over 40 or already in a relationship. For those of us who still have youth on your side, a lack of significant other, and twinge of desperateness...tinder is for you. It's a dating app. Significantly more sketchy than an online dating website, Tinder only allows you to post up to 5 pictures of yourself and an area for a very brief description or motto. With that information you either swipe left if it's a no go, or right if you think they're either hot or a potential date.

In the beginning I was ANTI Tinder to the max. I had already tried okcupid and match.com so I had had enough of the online dating for a while. Being in Madrid though, Darah and I were looking to see if we could find any beautiful men to show us around the city! There were plenty of hotties, but of course their initial comments were most likely sexual, creepy, or inappropriate, so they were quickly unmatched.
*note-you can only chat with them if you both said yes to each other*
After a few weeks of nothing really, Darah and my strategy changed. Don't say yes to the total hotties who you know are going to be creepy! (especially if their only picture is of their abs) So we started to swipe right to the average looking joes who might just be willing to show us around town.
Every once in a while there were a few potentials, but for the most part it was just fun to swipe left or right.
I did end up talking to this guy Cameron. No, he wasn't from Spain...but he has been living here since March. He seemed somewhat normal and after a few times of trying to meet up we finally did. The first time we tried to meet up it was already midnight and he said he still had to shower and would we (Darah and I) still be there in an hour. Absolutely not, we had to work the next day.

We went to this place called gymage which is like a gym, sports club, restaurant on the terrace type thing. It seemed like a super hip place to go! and they even had a swimming pool that I bet nobody every swims in, but it still looks really cool!

We had a bunch to talk about since he has a pretty sweet job. He works for a company writing articles on Pharmaceuticals and he stays in a country for about 5 months and then moves onto the next. The whole time writing and hanging out in amazing countries! I think the listed off at least 6 just mentioning it. His job is located in Paris and after every trip he goes back there, goes on Holiday and then is off to his next assignment. He leaves on Thursday and has no idea where he is going! Weird.

I had a delicious dinner! Salmon ravioli with pesto sauce! I wasn't quite sure what I was ordering, but it ended up being fantastic! Cameron's not so much...although he devoured it in less than 10 minutes. We had some awkward moments here and there. Not much of a love connection, but it was definitely great to get out on the town and have a nice meal paid for :)

Maybe I'll fall in love with a life guard at the beach! Darah was practicing her dead man's float the other day to attract them! haha. Oh life.

Also, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!!! I turn 25. woof.
