When you go to a new city they have a list of the things you most definitely need to see, the choices, and then there are the random things that you just find! The aqueduct, the cathedral (hard to miss) and the palace were the 3 things that were must sees in Segovia. So of course, we had to see them!
One of the first stops of our tour of Segovia. This is the Roman Aqueduct with 166 arches! My history brain was failing me and I could not remember for the life of me what an aqueduct was used for. I knew it had something to do with water.
Darah in front of the aqueduct.
A shot of the town below.
Definitely a jaw dropper!
a close up! 1571 it says.
Inside was amazing! I love the ceiling the most!!
After we came out of the cathedral we made our way to the palace! This was a little bit out of the center of the city so we had a chance to wonder the streets! There were lots of winding roads and you think you're following a parallel street, but you're not. You could end up getting completely turned around, and finding awesome things!
like this awesome cathedral behind me!
Also taking the road less traveled (at least I didn't see anyone on this street) brought us some pretty cool views!
And then we made it to the palace! Being the cheap savvy travelers that we are, we did not go in. But it looked really beautiful from the outside!
The palace!
While I was looking for the bathroom in the food court thing that was right there (didn't pee, you had to pay) I came out to this beautiful sight! Wish this was the view of my back yard! of course with a pool.
A few more hours of wandering around and a four cheese pizza later Darah and I were on our way back to Madrid!! Overall a great Sunday outing :)
